Message from Our Chief Executive Officer
I am pleased to share with you Patterson-UTI’s 2022 sustainability report.
A reduced demand for crude oil and refined products related to the COVID-19 pandemic led to a significant reduction in crude oil prices and demand for drilling and completion services in 2020 and early 2021. However, market fundamentals in 2022 were strong, crude oil prices recovered, as demand increased for drilling and completions equipment and services, and industry supply of services provided by our businesses remained constrained. As you will see reflected in this report, we experienced a higher activity level in 2022 as a result of these many different drivers.
